Tewkesbury - The Historic Town of Tewkesbury where time stood still for 150 years
ensuring the preservation of its medieval character and layout to the present day.
Tewkesbury is now a thriving town and at the same time is a living museum of architecture
and social history spanning over 500 years. The town has such a perfectly preserved
medieval character that in 1964 The Council of British Archaeology listed it amongst
57 towns "so splendid and so precious that the ultimate responsibility for them
should be of national concern".
Tewkesbury is a pure
delight to behold and we have no hesitation in highly recommending it as a 'MUST'
place to visit by all tourists visiting the Cotswolds region - an effort that will
be amply rewarded in the memories and images you will forever keep and treasure.

Tewkesbury is an ancient
settlement at the meeting of the rivers Severn and Avon. The surrounding rivers and
flood plain have prevented the old town from expanding so that its long thin profile
has hardly altered since the middle ages. Tewkesbury presents one of the best medieval
townscapes in England with its fine half-timbered Tudor buildings, overhanging upperstoreys
and ornately carved doorways.

Shopping
Tewkesbury offers a good selection of specialty shops, antique shops, tea and coffee
shops, inns and pubs and restaurants.

An open air Market is held twice weekly on Wednesdays and Saturdays. The main shopping
areas are on High Street, Church Street and Barton Street.
Leisure
Golf, tennis, horse riding , cycling and bike hire, bowling, angling are all available
nearby.
Boating Trips are available daily, boat hire is available, and also boat mooring.
Where to stay
We hope to bring to this website several places we would recommend you to stay in
the near future.
