Transport and Travel in and to Bath SpaThe information presented on this page is a guide to getting to Bath and travelling within the city. The city centre is divided into 3 zones - northern, central and southern - each with their own access points, which will allow all vehicles to access specific areas of the city centre, but prevent through traffic. Access to all parts of the city centre will be maintained at all times. The central area of Bath, with most of its attractions, parks and shopping, is relatively compact and is fairly flat and easy to walk. A moderately fit person should be able to walk from the Railway Station at the south to the Royal Crescent at the north in less than twenty minutes. As you can imagine this World Heritage City is a very popular tourist destination and traffic within the city especially during summer is congested. Hire a bicycle from the Brassknocker Basin, and explore the Kennet and Avon Canal towpath between Bath and Bradford on Avon. The beautiful Limpley Stoke valley is an ideal way to explore and observe the abundant wildlife along the canal.
Situated just 5 miles south east of Bath on the A36, Brassknocker Basin has a car park, café and restaurant, historic canal display, railway and canal gift shop, chandlery boat hire and wonderful views.

City centre car parks are well signposted and identified as long or short stay.
Car parks are in Avon Street, Charlotte Street, Ham Gardens, Kingsmead Square, Manvers Street, the Sports Centre and Bath Cricket Club in North Parade Road, and Walcot Street.
Cars parked on city centre streets Monday to Saturday 8am-6pm must display a ticket available from some shops.
